What began life as one butcher’s desire to create a company of his own, soon took him towards meat auctioning throughout the country. With his brother by his side, charisma and drive brought them many loyal customers. Their success lead to the acquisition of over 50 meat concessions across a major retailer.

The family grew and it soon came time for them to go it alone. They created a make-shift store at their Burntwood headquarters. A few second-hand refrigerated decks, a cash till, a chopping block and the store was ready for trade. This was the beginnings of the food stores we know and love today. Word of mouth and press soon spread the good word, about unrivaled quality and price within the local community. Success was imminent.
The time soon came for expansion. A second retail unit was acquired and transformed into a purpose built meat market. The increase in size allowed for a broader product range and many job opportunities for the local area. More products meant buying in higher volumes and passing on these savings on to customers. Weekly Special offers have been a staple ever since.
Frozen food soon became a more prominent component within the stores. This gave customers more freedom of choice as well as more cost effective options.
It became evident that many customers wanted food ready cooked for Sunday lunch or even for parties. The family saw this as a missed opportunity and so began taking orders from a tiny kitchen at their Burntwood branch.
The capabilities of the space and staff were soon stretched and so Whitehouse Catering was founded and expanded. The newly acquired space, complete with purpose built kitchen and reception area, allowed the business flourish. It has since grown into one of the most popular catering providers across Staffordshire.
A company-wide re-brand has already begun, starting with their latest Stafford store. The decision was made to bring the stores into the 21st century and to create something which would be instantly recognisable to their growing customer base.
Steady growth has always been a vital aspect of the Whitehouse Family’s winning formula. Now with 5 retail stores and a catering department on the brink of further expansion the future looks bright, purple and covered in their signature ‘W’.
